The Cheyenne River Youth Project has announced that it will host a youth basketball tournament on Saturday, May 17 at the Cokata Wiconi (Center of Life) Teen Center. Held in partnership with the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe’s Indian Child Welfare (ICWA) Program, the tournament will welcome players in grades 4-8, and community members of all ages are encouraged to attend and cheer for the competing teams.
“It’s going to be a fun day filled with round-robin competition, so everyone has a chance to play,” said Jerica Widow, CRYP’s programs director. “We’ll have prizes, as well as plenty of refreshments.”
Hot dogs, burgers, potato salad, fruit salad, cookies, chips and drinks will be served at lunchtime to all players. In addition, CRYP’s Keya Cafe will be open, serving smoothies, specialty coffees, chicken strips, cheese curds, fries, onion rings and pickles.
