The Cheyenne River Youth Project’s 6th annual RedCan invitational graffiti jam officially kicks off today, Aug. 12, and runs through Saturday evening, Aug. 15. And it’s going to be streaming live from eight cities across America: Denver; Minneapolis-St. Paul; Seattle; Kansas City, Missouri; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Rapid City, Pine Ridge, and Eagle Butte, South Dakota.

Viewers around the world will be able to experience the energy, inspiration, and magic of CRYP’s award-winning RedCan event, including arts education, original music, and engaging panel discussions with the featured artists. Each day will incorporate two broadcasts, concluding with a closing event on Saturday evening with special performance by Midnight Express and an official unveiling of the RedCan 2020 murals.

This year’s participating artists are: East in Denver; Biafra, Wundr and Cyfi in Minneapolis-St. Paul; Scribe in Kansas City, Missouri; Hoka in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Dwayno Insano in Scottsdale, Arizona; 179 in Seattle; Sadat and Collins in Rapid City, South Dakota; Wakinyan Chief in Pine Ridge, South Dakota; and Unalee Howe in CRYP’s Waniyetu Wowapi (Winter Count) Art Park in Eagle Butte, South Dakota. 

In addition, South Dakota-based DJ Micah will be sharing his original music throughout the RedCan 2020 event, and First Peoples’ Fund’s Rolling Rez Arts will provide arts instruction at CRYP and via RedCan Classroom Live.
